A combination of stainless steel and sweet iron encourages chewing and salivation, while the flat port give just enough room for the horse’s tongue.
Beris BLACK bits are made of stainless steel and sweet iron. The surface is extremely smooth and slides very gentle in the horse´s mouth. The black sweet iron parts of a beris BLACK bit are designed to get a light rust coating. Horses like the taste of the sweet iron, it encourages more salivation and chewing. Sweet iron bits are a solid iron core and the surface rust does not degrade their strength.
The ported bar has an especially flattened port design. This gives the tongue optimum room. Many horses respond to this with more suppleness and increased chewing. This bit is also well suited to horses that play with their tongues, trying to put their tongue over the bit, as the port prevents this effectively. Therefore this bit is eminently suited to horses that don’t like conventionally shaped bits due to the pressure on the tongue and respond with head-shaking. The form and the weight of the sidepieces ensures a very quiet, neutral position in the horse‘s mouth. This characteristic makes the bit wonderfully suited to young horses that are still somewhat green. They also receive optimum support and guidance due to the shape of the sidepiece.
